This piece is reproduced from an instrument dated 1570, signed by Humphrey Cole, and is located in the British Museum, London. The original has two faces, one of them being this Nocturlabio. This night watch is an artifact used to obtain the night time using the fixed stars of the sky. Created at the beginning of the 16th century, it fell into decline in the 18th century. This piece is built to measure the hour with the Star and Star Kochab.
